corner view bergen,norway: best kept secret

once upon a time in another millennium, i almost became one of these:

a danish cabaret ensemble situated in japan was looking for dancers.
but alas, my hair looked like this:

not to worry, the interviewer said, i could always get something like this (the wig, ladies, the wig):

not so much a secret, as something just not spoken of, something forgotten. why? well, i was an aspiring macrobiotic yogini whose values were on quite the opposite end of the spectrum. but i was already into the dance/performance scene and hey, japan was ADVENTURE!
but by the time i had the letter that said i was accepted, i had changed my mind. i can't remember why, but i assume the prospect of having to wear (dance in!) high heels for hours seven nights a week had something to do with it.
btw, have you ever been to a job interview where you had to strip down to you undies to show the whereabouts (yes, whereabouts) of your tits and butt? quite interesting. i was told that for this job, my butt would have been better off a bit further north, but that the high heels would help a bit.
now how's that for a secret?
p.s. i just got back on line after lightning struck and killed the router, so i haven't been able to post any viking photos yet. p.p.s. this will be the last corner view for the summer.
